We had a wonderful dinner/meeting at Jess's house last night, complete with sun-dried tomato pesto pasta, salad with avocado, Xelapan, boxed wine, and ice cream! We'll have to visit Jess more often.
We also met her roommate, who was pretty awesome as well. Best of all, she's an Emory graduate, class of 2006. When we mentioned Vanderbilt Med School, her face lit up and she asked if we knew a certain Kevin...Wise! Eeeeeeek! So now, we've met Suzi Bryce's ex-boyfriend in an internet cafe and a girl who lived down the hall from Kevin at Emory. It made my night, for obvious reasons...
Today we were back at clinic, finally, after the rain mostly dried up. It did manage to rain for a few hours today, but all in all things have been dry. We started the chart review today, knocking out 125 charts this morning. Now that seems pretty great, but we're only halfway through the C's. Good thing we have the next six weeks...
When we left clinic, it was pretty rainy, so we waited for a bus on the clinic porch. Instead of practicing my Spanish or doing anything else productive, I decided to take a picture of everything that passed the gate outside the clinic. You can see this collection of thrilling photos on Picasa, and maybe it will give you an idea of what transport is like in Guatemala.
